I wanted to touch upon a particular National Awareness for this month. I had no idea November apparently is National Everything Awareness Month. I found 87 associated awareness designations and observances and 810 holidays scheduled on specific days during this month.
For those of you who like to participate here are a few you might be interested in. Since I am considered a health fanatic by some of my “friends”, I see it is Good Nutrition Month, American Diabetes Month, Gluten-Free Diet Awareness Month, National Bladder Health Awareness Month, Teff and Millet Month, no these are not haircuts, and National Healthy Skin Month. Others I’d like to throw out there are: National Raisin Bread Month, Fun with Fondue Month, Peanut Butter Lovers Month, which is funny because it’s also No Nut November, lol. For the snowbirds, it’s Florida Paddlesports Month, and one of my personal favorites, Package Liquor Store Month!!
A more serious side to think about is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, National COPD Awareness Month, National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month and Long-Term Care Awareness Month, which is a type of insurance I will discuss in the coming months.
Since it is Thanksgiving time, of course comes National Gratitude Month! Most of us during this time are thinking about all the things we are grateful for, but did you know that gratitude daily does remarkable things for your mental health. It boosts serotonin and activates the brain to produce dopamine, in a sense, our “feel good” brain chemicals. It can make you feel more positive, help build strong relationships and reduce stress. So next time you’re feeling down, think of something your grateful for, your body will be thankful.
