Jerald “Jerry” M. Balestrino is a native of Hubbard, Ohio, and a graduate of Hubbard High School, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and Youngstown State University. He is the youngest of Tom and Frances Balestrino’s six children. 

After graduating from the Art Institute, Jerry began his career as a studio and portrait photographer before pursuing his passion for television and video production. That passion led him to WYTV Channel 33 in Youngstown, where he worked as a video photographer and editor. While working full-time, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. 

Jerry’s business degree opened the door to a successful career in sales and customer service. He spent many years as a veterinary pharmaceutical sales representative with companies including Bayer and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, building a reputation for honesty, integrity, and exceptional customer relationships.

Wanting a career that allowed him to make a more personal impact, Jerry transitioned into the insurance industry. After completing his licensing through Hondros College, he joined Gem-Young Insurance & Wealth Advisors in June 2020, helping clients protect what matters most through home, auto, and life insurance.

Soon after joining the agency, owner Leo DaPrile recognized Jerry’s ability to educate and connect with people and asked him to expand the agency’s Medicare services. Jerry completed his Medicare certifications through AHIP and multiple national insurance carriers and has since become known to hundreds of clients as Medicare Jer.

Today, Jerry specializes in helping individuals understand Medicare with confidence. Whether someone is turning 65, retiring, or reviewing their current coverage, he believes every client deserves straightforward guidance, honest advice, and personal attention. His mission is simple: “No Senior Left Confused!”

Outside of work, Jerry remains active in his community as a lector at Saint Patrick Church in Hubbard, where he volunteers his time on parish committees and helps with the annual fish fry and parish festival. His commitment to serving others—both professionally and personally—reflects the values that have guided him throughout his life and career.
